Advocacy Services

If you have a child with an IEP, you need an advocate. It's as simple as that. Otherwise, it is very likely that your child may be missing out on services that he or she needs to make adequate progress in school. Unfortunately, advocacy is expensive; but it is less than the cost of regret or the feeling of failure. The packages below are designed to help you cut costs, while still getting the support you need in order to successfully advocate for your child.

Paying a retainer fee ensures that you are able to communicate with your advocate as frequently as needed without additional charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
F.A.Q.

What is Advocacy?

A Special Education Advocate is an expert, who will guide you through the IEP process. An advocate will review your child's records and may accompany you to IEP meetings and/or provide consultative services.

Why Hire an Advocate?

There exists much legislation governing IEPs and the development and implementation of a child's special education program. In fact, you, as a parent of a child with special needs, have many rights or procedural safeguards. Unfortunately, most parents are often unaware of their rights and those of their child. Often times, the IEP team is not forthcoming with you about your options. An advocate will ensure that both your rights and those of your child are protected and exercised at all times.

Who Needs an Advocate?

Anyone who has a child receiving or about to receive special education services should hire an advocate. Most often, parents do not consider hiring an advocate until there is a major problem with the child's IEP. Hiring an advocate as soon as your child has been referred for special education services saves you money in the long run and also ensures the quality control of your child's education from the very beginning.

Situations that might warrant an advocate :

  • When you suspect that your child may need special education services

  • When the school says they cannot or will not do something that you are requesting for your child with special needs

  • When a child's behavior is escalating or hindering their academic progress

  • When you feel like there is something else going on with your child

  • When the child's IEP is not being properly implemented

  • When you feel like your child just needs more!
